The creative turtle interpretation, incorporating negative space, clean, exacting lines and outstanding texture work in the recesses speaks to the dedication of the Hopi artisan. Hopi Turtle Clan works are most often employed in their pottery designs, making this bolo an unusual one-of-a-kind work. The bolo measures 2” by 1 3/8”, weighs 26 grams and the lanyard, including the sterling tips, measures 36”. Hallmarked “T” and stamped sterling it may be the work of Marie Thomas. The bolo is in outstanding condition, edges worn smooth from us and covered in warm age patina. The unusual Turtle Clan design makes this a highly collectable work.
