The three natural turquoise stones were not “shaped” and the hand cut flat bezels incorporate unusual sharp corners to accommodate the stone shapes. The design of this old pawn Navajo bolo tie is a shallow shadowbox with three large raindrop elements accenting the stones. The lanyard keep mechanism is two simple straps of sterling that are squeezed by hand to hold the lanyard at it’s desired length—a very old technique. The tips are unusual as well due to their size and stamp work—they’re short compared to more contemporary works measuring 1.5” long with curved stamping. The bolo measures 1.5” by 1.5” and is slightly domed. The well broken in lanyard is in fantastic shape and measures 38” long including the sterling tips. The bolo weighs 28 grams, it’s in pristine vintage condition and has areas of heavy age patina. This would make a stellar addition to any Old Pawn bolo tie collection.
