The hand cut backing plate was “eyeballed” when cut for shape and there are irregularities in the curves. The amazing Blue Gem mine centerpiece is an outstanding representation of the source, measures 7/8” by .5”, set in hand cut flat bezel and is an impressive 5/16” deep. The fangs measure 1.5” long including the sterling elements. The elements are hand stamped in a traditional old style and are based on squash blossoms. There is evidence on the back that the clasp has been replaced with a Bennet style unit taking the place of the double-ring method used during the time period of it’s construction. The bolo face measures 2” by 1 7/16”, it weighs 40 grams including the 38” lanyard and sterling tips and is covered in heavy age patina. This is a fantastic and unusual Navajo creation featuring elements of Native American cultural significance. No artisan hallmark on this Old Pawn Navajo creation—highly collectable.
