This outstanding sandcast Naja weighs 43 grams, measures 2.75” by 3”, nice warm patina, hallmarked WB with a symbol over it, on an appliqued tab. This is classic vintage Navajo design from the mid 2oth century by Wilson Begay, noted Navajo Silversmith. Begay is still producing, as is his wife, Carol, and they are represented by gallerys in Arizona and New Mexico. This is an older piece from this recognized artisan as is evidenced by the hallmark, as it is not the cleaner version that has been used for a considerable time. Naja is representative of Begay’s style utilizing his signature “hammered” terminals and clean overall design. Construction is flawless.
