Old Navajo Pawn Cerrillos Turquoise Sterling Ring

Made in the 1920s or 1930s, this amazing ring is constructed to very high standards incorporating outstanding design and superior craftsmanship. The matte finish Cerrillos mine turquoise stone is an excellent representation of a mine that stopped producing several decades ago. It’s set in hand cut flat bezel and positioned on an elegantly understated square plate. The raindrop treatments on the shank are graduated in size, the wave stamp used is textured in the recesses and the God’s Eye stamps on the shank show considerable wear with one of them being mostly worn off from use. The double split shank has been sized and was done quite some time ago and the sizing job was beautifully done; this ring came from the Taos, New Mexico area and was the ring of choice for an art gallery acquisition person for over 10 years—we were very lucky to get it as it’s age and design are superior in every way. The ring is a size 9.5, the stone measures 7/16” square and the ring face measures 9/16” square. This Old Pawn Navajo ring weighs 7 grams, is in fantastic condition, elegantly designed and incorporates construction techniques employed by a talented unknown Navajo artisan during a time when minimal tools were available.
