Outstanding, handcrafted ornate design with an Art Deco appeal, these vintage Mexican earrings feature dark green jade stones each measuring 1/4” by 3/8”. “Mexican Jade” is often use to describe dyed quartz of glass that has been made to resemble jade. The sterling work is very well executed incorporating raindrops, side panels and a quarter dome element with coiled wire accents. The earrings measure 2.25” long including the wires and 9/16” wide. The set weighs 8 grams and the hallmark, although mostly worn away, appears to be that of Pedro Castillo, a talented silversmith that worked for William Spratling and at Taxco prior to opening his own shop in 1940. The earrings are in outstanding condition.
