The 37 handcrafted graduated beads measure from 3/8” to 3/16”. The necklace has it’s original hemp string and the clasp is handcrafted. The beads vary dramatically as some are individually hand stamped with irregular patterns which do not look like a standard stamp, put appear to have all been applied using light chisel work, and others, especially the smaller beads, are not stamped. The individual bead construction varies considerably as well, with some of the seams being less than straight. This all speaks loudly to the handcrafted, almost primitive nature of this choker necklace. The beads have been worn smooth from use and are all covered in warm age patina. The choker is 14” long, which is a pretty tight fit for most, so please measure carefully prior to ordering. This outstanding example of early Navajo craftsmanship weighs 15 grams, has no hallmark, and would make an exceptional addition to any Old Pawn collection.
