The exacting nature of Zuni Needle Point work originated in the 1930s and this set is undoubtedly from that era. The Sleeping Beauty mine stones, hand carved into nearly identical “slivers” and mounted in tiny serrated bezels, is time intensive with certain Zuni artisans specializing in this style of work. Crafting Needle Point pieces of this caliber takes decades of honing your skills as the size and delicacy of the designs are on a very small and detailed scale, not often mastered. Each earring has 11 stones accented with eight tiny raindrops around a coiled wire accented teardrop cut out, with hand hammered sterling dangles attached to handcrafted loops. The connecting rings between the elements are also handcrafted and very, very small. The earrings measure 1.75” long, 5/8” wide, the set weighs 5 grams and there is no artisan hallmark as is common for the time period. An outstanding and highly collectable example of detailed, old pawn Zuni artistry in excellent condition, covered in warm age patina.
