This unusual Depression Era Mexican Art Deco pin/pendant features a natural, hand carved turquoise centerpiece and three very small spiny oyster accents, all set in flat bezels. The unusual design and construction of this piece, done by an unknown artisan, is steeped in Art Deco tradition speaking to the time period of it’s creation. The pin mechanism employs a simple hook—another attribute that dates this pin to the 30s, maybe 40s. The delicate background tines really make the design pop and the color scheme of the stones is very attractive. One of the tines had come loose at one end and I had it repaired—you can see it clearly in the photo—the shop did an excellent job and it’s now completely secure. There are two tiny loops on the pin for attaching a chain in order to use it as a pendant. That these have remained intact is is pretty remarkable, but they’re in great shape with no damage. The pin measures 1.75” by 1.25” and weighs 8 grams. The pin is covered in warm age patina and in fantastic condition.
