This Old Pawn Zuni ring is done in a style called Petit Point, but the thing is, the 12 matched Cerrillos mine stones are round, which was how the style came about back in the 1920s. The Petit Point style now often uses oval or tear drop shaped stones. The flower settings, with their flat bezels holding the stones, are an older design as well, with each row of three flowers being a single panel. The stamping on the shank further dates the ring to the 1920s/30s–old style scallops, zig-zags and rattlesnakes that are textured in their recesses.. The chisel split shank has been filed smooth–chisel splits terminate in a distinct āVā, and these have been filed into curves. The construction is right on the money, with the tines of the shank being well spaced and firmly attached to the 4 separate face plates. The face measures 1″ by 9/16″, it’s a size 7.5 and it weighs 9 grams. It appears to have been previously sized but the jeweler did such a great job, it’s hard to tell. A fantastic Old Pawn Zuni ring by an unknown artisan in excellent condition.
