Old Pawn Zuni Channel Inlay Ring, Turquoise and Sterling

This handcrafted Zuni ring is remarkable in several ways. The channels speak to the early handcrafted nature as they are slightly out of alignment. The natural stones, although they do not match, appear to all be original to the ring, as the wear on them is even—none of them are less worn than the others. To my eye it looks like there are Bisbee, Blue Gem, Cerrillos and Sleeping Beauty mine stones and this was probably the intent of the unknown Zuni artisan—no hallmark, tests positive for sterling. The four peyote buttons are also misaligned in their stamping which adds a lot of character to an already outstanding ring. The ring is a size 6.5, the face measures 1 3/16” by 3/8” and it weighs 6 grams. The single split shank is well executed and soldered to the ring with much care. The ring is in excellent vintage condition and the sterling is dark with age patina.
