No one ever mentions what kind of bug a lot of these pins are representing, because yes, it’s a Stink Bug. The Stink Bug is revered in Native American culture as it’s toxic discharge has the ability to quell most attackers, yet it’s stature is quite small—it only takes a sizable lizard a couple of encounters to take the Stink Bug off it’s menu. He’s a tough little guy, and Native Americans admire that in a bug. The construction on this pin is terrific—the setting for the Easter Blue mine turquoise stones, the twisted wire legs, the sterling eyes and the unusual stamping on the wings really set it apart from many pins in this genre. The pin is 1 3/8” long, 5/8” wide and 3/8” thick at the wings. The pin weighs 5 grams and has a “17” lightly scratched onto the base. The pin mechanism is in perfect working order. Excellent condition with considerable age patina.
