This beautifully rendered portrait by Henry Jones (named after his father and known as Little Henry by his family) is in pristine condition. Jones worked as a portrait artist at the Hotel Albuquerque, beginning in the 1960s. His works are primarily pencil, charcoal and even some pastels. Also an accomplished print maker, he made his own prints of his work, and had them for sale at the hotel, while offering his services to the public. He once did a set of collector’s plates which were offered in The New Yorker magazine. Jones was very successful––his art was the sole source of income for his family, and he did quite well over the years, with new clients seeking him out via word of mouth, to have their portraits artfully rendered when visiting the Southwest. The image size of this un-numbered print measures 17×12” and the thick textured stock measures 22×18”. He signed his work with his family nickname “L. Henry.” Jones passed recently and his surviving family still live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This Native American Elder makes for a striking and powerful portrait and would display well in any Southwestern themed home or office.
